FIGGYR / FIELD NOTES

How it works

The code uses the common WIFI: payload convention with escaped special characters and UTF-8 text. Supported security types are WPA/WPA2 Personal, legacy WEP and open networks. Enterprise credentials and WPA3-only profiles are not supported. Device support varies: test the code with your intended phones before printing many copies.

The formulaWi-Fi QR payload = network name + security type + password + hidden-network flag

Put it into practice

EXAMPLE

A guest network with WPA/WPA2 Personal can be shared without typing its passphrase on each supported device.

EXAMPLE

An open-network QR code contains no password; it does not add encryption.

Good to know

Can someone recover the password from the QR code?

Yes. Anyone who can see or photograph the QR code can recover its encoded password. Hiding the printed password does not protect the secret in the code. Only display it where you intend to grant access.

Where are my credentials stored?

This tool does not transmit or automatically persist credentials. Explicitly downloaded images and printed cards contain the access details. Clear removes the fields, code and print card from the open page.

What passphrases are accepted?

WPA/WPA2 accepts 8–63 printable ASCII characters or 64 hexadecimal digits here. WEP accepts 5/13 ASCII characters or 10/26 hexadecimal digits. WEP is legacy and insecure; this support does not recommend its use.
