How it works

The tariff is entered by you in your own currency. Duty cycle estimates how much of the scheduled time the device draws the stated running power. This simple model assumes zero draw during the rest of the scheduled time; add standby or other loads separately. It excludes fixed charges, taxes, tiered tariffs and time-of-use rates. Nameplate maximum power may differ from actual measured use.

The formulaDaily kWh = watts × device count / 1,000 × hours × duty cycle / 100
Cost = daily kWh × days × price per kWh

Put it into practice

EXAMPLE

A 100 W device operating 8 hours daily for 30 days uses 24 kWh. At 0.20 per kWh, its estimated energy charge is 4.80.

Good to know

What is duty cycle?

A device running half the scheduled time has a 50% duty cycle. Use 100% for continuous operation at the entered power.

Does this predict my utility bill?

It estimates this load’s energy charge only. Your bill may contain other loads, rate structures and fixed fees.
