FIGGYR / FIELD NOTES

How it works

This is Figgyr’s transparent planning heuristic, not an industry standard or a survey-based prediction. Count furnished bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens and offices; exclude hallways and empty rooms. The model adds ten boxes per room and five per person, then adjusts for belongings. Count garages, books, hobbies and storage areas separately if they are substantial.

The formulaBaseline = (10 × rooms + 5 × people) × belongings factor
Range = baseline × 0.8 to baseline × 1.2, rounded outward

Put it into practice

EXAMPLE 01

Four rooms and two people with typical belongings: (40 + 10) × 1 = 50 boxes at the midpoint; suggested range 40–60.

EXAMPLE 02

Two rooms and one person with light belongings: (20 + 5) × 0.7 = 17.5; suggested range 14–21 boxes.

Good to know

Are furniture and specialty crates included?

No. Furniture, wardrobes, artwork, fragile items, suitcases and specialty containers need a separate plan.

What size boxes does this assume?

A practical mix of standard small and medium moving boxes. Box capacity and how tightly you pack vary, so review your actual belongings before buying.
