FIGGYR / FIELD NOTES

How it works

This is a top-down layout of a rectangular room. All room, furniture and position values use the selected unit. Changing between feet and meters converts the existing layout. Rotation swaps the rectangular footprint by 90 degrees. Overlapping items are highlighted; overlapping area is counted only once when calculating covered floor.

The formulaPlan scale = drawing size ÷ room size
Furniture coverage = union of rectangular footprints
Uncovered floor = room area − furniture coverage

Put it into practice

EXAMPLE

A 12 × 10 ft room has 120 sq ft of floor. A 6 × 3 ft sofa covers 18 sq ft before allowing for walkways.

EXAMPLE

A 2 × 1 m table rotated by 90 degrees occupies a 1 × 2 m footprint. Its area is still 2 sq m.

Good to know

Can I use a keyboard instead of dragging?

Yes. Select an item in the list and enter its size and distance from the left/top walls. Use the four move buttons, or focus a shape and use arrow keys. Shift + arrow moves five steps; R rotates and Delete removes.

Does this check safe clearances?

No. Rectangles do not model doors, door swings, windows, wall thickness, ceiling height, escape routes or access needs. Uncovered floor is not the same as usable circulation space. Check actual clearances before moving or buying furniture.

Is my layout saved?

No. The layout stays only in this page while it is open. Copy or print the dimensions before leaving. Up to 30 items and rooms from 0.1 to 100 units per side are supported.
