How it works

All items have the same width. Positions are measured from the left edge of the available span. Equal-gap mode includes identical empty gaps at both ends. Fixed-inset mode places the first and last centers at your stated inset, then spaces remaining centers equally. One item is centered regardless of inset. Marks locate item centers, not necessarily hangers or mounting holes.

The formulaEqual edge gap = (span − count × item width) / (count + 1)
Center = edge gap + half item width + index × center pitch
Fixed-inset pitch = (span − 2 × center inset) / (count − 1)

Put it into practice

EXAMPLE

Three 30 cm pictures across 200 cm leave four 27.5 cm gaps. Their centers are 42.5, 100 and 157.5 cm.

Good to know

Are these edge or center measurements?

The result labels both. Use the center marks for layout and subtract half the item width to find each left edge.

Can pictures have different widths?

This tool assumes equal widths. Different-width items need a separate layout.
